Eta Geminorum  is a very interesting star. Besides being a semiregular red pulsating star with a cycle of 233 days, what we see is actually the combination of the light of two stars that eclipse each other with a very long 2983-2984 days period.

The companion is probably another M type star, which makes this system a very strange one.

Just when the New Year has come we will probably be observing the bottom of the eclipse.
